By the way, a very happy birthday goes out to John Glenn, the former pilot, astronaut and US Senator from Ohio, who turns 95 today. Mr. Glenn was already a star, already a hero from his military service when he was chosen by NASA to become one of their original seven astronauts, in the Mercury Program. In 1962, he rode a Mercury-Atlas rocket and became the third American, and fifth person overall to fly in space; the first American to orbit the Earth. He then flew in space again, aboard the Shuttle Discovery in 1998. Here’s to him. If you want to see it, here’s the launch of Friendship 7.
